Pol Opuesto, El Otro Lado 2020

Pol Opuesto was created to shine a light on lesser-known grape varieties farmed using minimal-intervention, organic practises. Headed up by American-born Pol Andsnes, who scoured the globe looking for the perfect vineyards which matched his vision, before settling on Argentina, where there is a plethora of unloved and under-appreciated varieties which make amazing wine, but are currently destined for cheap blends or fruit juice. Pol is on a mission to spread the word that there's more to life in Argentina than mass-produced Malbec, and we're all here for it. El Otro Lado 2020 is a supremely cool orange wine made from 100% Torrontés. Macerated for 10 months on skins, it is deliciously sappy, intense and aromatic. Leaping out of the glass are notes of apricot, ginger, quince, peach and heady blossom, almost bordering on potpourri (but in a really good way). Medium-bodied and equally intense on the palate, it is unfiltered, unfined and wine in its purest form.
